Pinnacle MMA - The Story 2016
Pinnacle MMA wasn't always on top of the rankings. In fact, it wasn't until mid-2006 that we began to notice their teams strength. It all started when we decided to add single academy ranking to the website. In our mind, single academy rankings would give the audience a deeper look into who is winning the tournaments. Although the organization titles are upmost important, they were reserved for Goliath organizations and it also help reveal which single academies contributed to these organizations points.
Once the software program was finished and the calculation for the single academy ranking were released, we were taking back by the result. Pinnacle MMA was in first place by a little over 100 points for the youth individual academy. We re-ran the numbers and after double checking everything was correct. Pinnacle MMA was the biggest points provider for the 2016 season as a single youth academy.
Later that year, in a trip to Pinnacle MMA we told head coach Jake Behney the story. We asked him, where did his team come out of? We are familiar with the results of other tournaments. How is it that his team appear out of no where into our first place spot?
He told us that he used to compete under another organization and decided to go on his own. The first tournament he wanted his independent was Jiu Jitsu World League.
Ever since we created the calculation for individual results, Pinnacle MMA has been a top player at every event. Pinnacle MMA, from Redland CA, traveled to SF and won 1st place in a city that is 440 miles away. They also won our most competitive single elimination event, The World Championship.
This year, Pinnacle MMA is back on top. They placed second in both OC 2017 and SD 2017 event. These two second place victories currently place them in first place just over Carlson Gracie Garden Groove.
With 5 events left in the regular season, there is a lot to decide... But one thing is for sure... Pinnacle MMA is no longer a underdog.
