Adults & Masters
Brazilian Top Team Norwalk (BTT Norwalk), Checkmat, and Cobrinha BJJ all captured first podium positions for Adults/Masters at the Jiu Jitsu World League World Championships last weekend in Los Angeles.
BTT Norwalk won the Academy Championship (awarded for the best performance for an individual academy) edging One Jiu Jitsu (Irvine) and Art of Jiu Jitsu (Costa Mesa). This was the first time BTT has won a Jiu Jitsu World League event. Five teams remain in a tight battle to win the prestigious 2018 Academy Championship: Art of Jiu Jitsu, One, Cobrinha, Jean Jacques Machado and Trujitsu Bakersfield.
Checkmat won the Team Championship (the most points for an entire organization) with Alliance-Cobrinha and One Jiu Jitsu earning second and third places, respectively. For the 2018 Season, Checkmat remains in first place with Alliance-Cobrinha, Gracie Barra and Atos battling it out for second and third place.
Cobrinha BJJ won the exclusive Elite 8 Championship with One Jiu Jitsu and BTT Norwalk winning second and third place honors. The Elite 8 is a special competition that levels the playing field for all academies ( only the points of eight pre selected competitors from each academy count with greater weight given to total wins and submissions). AOJ maintains a slight lead over One and Cobrinha in the race for the 2018 Season Championship.
